2020 Toyota Corolla vs 2019 Ford Escape - Tarbox Toyota

Vehicle Overview

Toyota has been on a roll as of late, putting out spectacular super SUVs like the Highlander. Now it’s their turn to dominate the compact car market with their 2020 Toyota Corolla, a completely redesigned for 2020 car that’s going to win more than a few people over. Today we’re comparing it to an SUV from Ford, the always interesting Ford Escape (2019 edition). Comparing a compact to an SUV might seem a little unusual, as both are different categories of vehicles, but sometimes you need to decide if you need a sedan or SUV. Will the Corolla be able to meet all of your families needs as well as an SUV? We believe so. Here’s why!

Exterior – 2020 Toyota Corolla

Your Corolla is going to be as luxurious as it gets on the outside, with a superior LED lighting system and optional Adaptive Front-Lighting System that not only serves as a beautiful exterior feature, but a functional one as well that will make the road at night much clearer for you. LED tail and stoplights are standard on all models, with LED tail and stoplights with sports trim available on the XLE. Black front grille with sport mesh insert are available on the Hybrid LE and XLE, for a premium look that you just won’t find on the Escape. Both of these vehicles are very different, and it’s certainly difficult to compare the appearance of a compact car to that of an SUV, but sometimes you do need to sort through things a bit and figure out which exterior is going to make you the most comfortable. For individualists who don’t need passenger seating galore, the Corolla is simply the better looking vehicle.

Interior – 2020 Toyota Corolla – Tarbox Toyota

Interiors are rarely as premium as you’ll find on the 2020 Toyota Corolla. Pitting it against an SUV interior is always going to leave it short on cargo space and passenger room, but if you would prefer to have just a beautifully elegant interior for you and a few family members, the sedan’s interior is going to blow away anything the Escape has to offer in its 2019 edition. Toyota maximizes visibility by setting up an open seating configuration and using their design wits to make for a cozier, safer view of the road and the cockpit itself. The XLE features SofTex®-trimmed heated front sport seats with sport fabric inserts, with a super cozy 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support. You’ll feel like you’re riding in another world when you’re on the road with the Corolla. The Escape’s 8″ touchscreen dash is nice, but other than that, your materials are going to be far more premium if you opt for the Corolla. Perhaps that’s because some SUVs are built mostly for utility, not for comfort, like a compact car.

Safety – Corolla specs – Tarbox Toyota

We want to kick things off by mentioning that Toyota gave the Corolla Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, a system that’s going to eclipse just about any safety system that any Ford SUV throws at you. It’s our sincere belief that Safety Sense 2.0 will more adequately take care of your family while you’re on the road. It features sensors all around the vehicle for a precise drive that helps you divert potential accidents. Toyota gives you a suite of features in Safety Sense, including Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Automatic High Beams, to name just a few of the included Safety Sense features. Notice that all of these features don’t just detect potentially dangerous situations, but they also have the ability to take over and adjust things like steering and braking so that you avoid accidents even when fear paralyzes you in a dangerous situation. We propose that this is even better a base Safety System than Ford’s system for the 2019 Escape.

Tarbox Toyota - 2020 Toyota Corolla's Mechanical

Our comparison of the 2020 Toyota Corolla and 2019 Ford Escape was a challenging one, as they’re two completely different vehicles. One is built for utility and large families in mind, another one with the freer spirit looking for a tad more luxury than utility. All in all, though, we fully stand behind the 2020 Corolla as the clear winner in this competition. It is graceful in motion, efficient on engine and transmission options, packed with premium interior flourishes, and simply a beautiful car to behold when you view it from any distance. For its part, the Escape will definitely find a home with larger families who need more cargo space and a few more practical features, but for those who have the freedom to go with an exciting choice, and a safe one, it’s the Corolla taking away the big prize this year. It comes in three exciting trims, including a hybrid model that will thrill the environmentally conscious drivers of the world. If you have any further questions about why the Corolla should be your choice, please feel free to write or call us today! We’ll be happy to answer all of your questions, schedule a test drive of your favorite trim, or simply discuss the new Corolla with you. We believe that Toyota really created a masterpiece with this one, and when you take it out for a test drive, you’re going to see the massive changes that make the 2020 Corolla such an exciting pick.
